Messages:
JESLI A. LAPUS - DepEd Secretary
Today marks yet another milestone in the lives of the Filipino boys and girls whose accomplishments we recognize at this momentous event.
Their achievement is by no means an easy feat. By virtue of their perseverance and commitment to the cause of their own education, our young honorees have endured years of struggle-long years of struggle that have prepared them for the future.
I therefore congratulate you, the Class of 2009. And I ask each one of you to recognize the fact that your success can only be made possible with the support of others-your teachers, your family, your friends.
Your success is their success.
I extend my greetings to all your parents-for as parents, you have played a vital role in the development of your child. I urge you to continue to provide the guidance and support your child needs to become even more successful in the coming yhears. Ating pagtulungan ang pangangalaga ng kapakanan ng inyong mga anak at ng lahat ng kabataang Pilipino.
I also give due recognition to all our teachers-for just as this event is a celebration of the accomplishment of our students and their parents, it too is a celebration of your own accomplishment. For without you-without your sense of service, without your dedication as professional educators-all this will not be possible. I congratulate-and thank-all our teachers for a job well done. Sa inyo, mga mahal na guro, ang taus-puso kong pasasalamat sa inyong serbisyo at mga magagandang Gawain.
This celebration is a celebration of our success. It too is a celebration of our commitment to education.
In the words of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo-Education is the foundation of economic prosperity, individual liberty, justice and self-worth.
And I thank each one of you for recognizing the importance of education and our call for participation in education. With your support, the Department of Education now has one of the highest public approval ratings of all government agencies. And with your support, your education secretary-DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus-now has the highest performance rating from among all cabinet secretaries. Tanggapin nyo po ang aking taus-pusong pasasalamat sa inyong tulong at suporta.
At this time, when the entire world is reeling from a global economic crisis, the value of education becomes even more apparent to us all.
I therefore call on you, dear graduates, to recognize the true value of your education. Beyond the diploma that you will take home with you, what is truly important is the knowledge you have gained while in school-the knowledge that will empower you to meet the many difficult challenges in these difficult times.
Moreover, I call on each one of you to recognize that your success demands you to accept more responsibilities, not just for yourself and your respective families, but also for your country and your community. The true value of your education is in your knowing that you now have a bigger role to play in society and in our quest for a better nations for all Filipinos.
Duty and responsibility, love of country, care and compassion for your fellowman-these are the ideals that you must take with your as you leave the confines of your beloved alma mater. These are the principles that will define you as Filipinos and as human beings-empowered and truly educated to take part in nation building.
Congratulations to the Class of 2009.
Sa inyo ang aking patuloy na panalangin para sa inyong magandang kinabukasan.
Mabuhay kayong lahat at mabuhay ang sambayanang Pilipino.
JESLI A. LAPUS

Graduation maybe the happiest moment a student could ever dream of. It is the culmination of a long and oftentimes difficult journey to make one self better prepared to meet the challenges of adulthood.
But, more than an achievement for the graduate, it is actually a testament to the sacrifices your parents and family have made in order for you to reach this far. It is likewise an affirmation of the great role our teachers have played in molding you to become responsible and productive members of the community. Lastly, it is a time to thank the Lord God for the blessings and guidance all these years.
As another chapter opens to your life story, welcome it with joy, as I am sure you could be… what you want to be.
Congratulations and good luck!

HON. WENG O. GAKIT - Provincial Board Member, Cebu, Philippines
Today marks another milestone in the lives of our dear graduates, after all, your graduation is a testament of our triumph over all academic trials that came your way. Victory is yours, my dear graduates! I am sure you and your parents must be proud of this achievement.
The Philippines is certainly not a rich country. In fact, our peso miserably pales compared to dollars and euros. This country will not make you rich. But, you will make this country rich. For if there is one thing that our country can certainly stand tall and proud, it is that Philippines is very rich in human resources. The human mind of the Filipinos is our country's fundamental resource.
However, the human mind, like other natural resource, could rot and wither if this is not nourished and nurtured. You need to continuously feed your minds with more knowledge and more learning if you want this fundamental resource to flourish.
This is the message of this year's graduation theme “My Education: My contribution to the future.”
On the education of the people of this country lies the fate of our nation. And on your education, the future of this country depends.
As the 35th president of the USA, John F. Kennedy had said, “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education.”
Congratulations and Mabuhi!

HON. AVELINO J. GUNGOB, SR, - Mayor, Municipality of Consolacion, Cebu, Philippines
To the 2009 Graduates of Consolacion NHS - Evening Class:
My sincere greetings and warmest felicitations on your graduation day!
Obtaining a high school diploma is an achievement you can now be proud of. Indeed, it is a real indication that you have done your best devotion to your studies.
However, that achievement alone is not enough because of the present complexities and the ever-increasing competition in the global market opportunities which demands for college graduates in the business, commercial and industrial sectors of employment.
During these tough and challenging times, I would like to advise our graduates to pursue a college education or enroll in a vocational/technical course so that you can easily find a job that guarantees a sure employment opportunity due to the technical skills and special discipline one may acquire from enrolling in these vocational and technical courses.
In the midst of the present global economic crisis, I am still confident that God will always supply and provide us with our needs and keep us safe in His loving care and divine protection.
To reiterate, Congratulations and Godspeed!
April 3, 2009, Consolacion, Cebu, Philippines
Very truly yours,

ARDEN D. MONISIT, Ed.D. - Schools Division Superintendent, Division of Cebu Province
DepEd, Division of Cebu Province would like to express its sincerest Congratulations to the 2009 graduates of this Division. This achievement of yours is not only worth-boasting but also worth-imitating. You are one of those few who have successfully made it until the last. Hence, you truly deserve to receive your diplomas.
While you celebrate this great achievement of yours, you should not forget the people who have contributed much to your success. You should not forget to thank the very people, who have dedicated their time and effort, and even their entire lives for your success. Foremost of those are your parents they who have always given you all the support you need in your studies. And your teachers too, your second parents they who have trained and molded you to become what you are now.
As you receive your diplomas, you likewise receive the challenge of contributing to the improvement of our beloved Cebu Province. May you be able to use the training and education you received from your Alma Mater in making this Province the best place to live in. And may such training and education transform you to become productive citizens of our Province. Siguradong uunlad and ating kinabukasan, dahil sa lakas ng ating mga kabataan.
Once again, Congratulations and may God bless you all!

ELISA M. ESCUTIN - Principal II, Consolacion NHS-EC
Dear Graduates, my congratulations to all of you on this momentous occasion. The sacrifices of your parents have not been in vain because their efforts enabled you to earn an education that would help you to further pursue your youthful ambitions. However, let me remind you that you will be embarking on a more difficult and challenging tasks. Like any other nation, our country is now suffering from the impacts of a global economic crisis. There are parents who have lost their jobs and are now facing the bleak prospect of not being able to send their children to college. But do not allow this to dismay you. Always bear in mind that “behind the clouds the sun is still shining”. There is always hope if you have faith in God.
The theme “My Education: My Contribution to the Future” is a very relevant topic. However, in this difficult time your ability to achieve this objective depends on your dedication, perseverance, discipline and a stronger faith in the Almighty Lord.
Your teachers have done so much but the most difficult task of achieving your ambitions depends largely on you. Remember, you could make your contribution to the society by being a productive citizen in whatever endeavor you find yourself in. In this difficult time, you should be practical and not aspire for something which is beyond your capability. There are small things that you could do for the betterment of your community. Rather than embarking in some grandiose tasks that would later fail because of difficulties, try looking around you and try to see what you can do rather than sit in the corner and ponder your future because you do not have the means to pursue your ambition.
Young graduates, go out and walk thru life's garden. Then try to fit in whatever task you may find yourself in order to be productive citizens. Big or small, your contributions will count for as long as you believe in yourselves, and that you feel you have done your best and have been sincere in your efforts. Good luck and God bless you all.

Valedictory Address:
Mr. John Mark B. Amias, Valedictorian, SY 2008 - 2009
Our distinguished guests, Schools Division Superintendent Arden D. Monisit; our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Avelino J. Gungob Sr.; our beloved Principals Madame Elisa M. Escutin and Madame Adelina P. Semblante; our PTCA officials led by the President, Mr. Gyrald Jake G. Rodriguez, beloved faculty members, dear parents, fellow graduates, friends, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant afternoon to all.
Anais Nin, a great philosopher in contemporary times, once said, “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” The way you see your life, shapes your life. I view my life as a privilege and as a responsibility, not as a mere pleasure. A privilege – for I was fortunate to have experienced the goodness and delights of life; and a responsibility – for I strongly believe that I am living in this world for a purpose. We, at Consolacion National High School-Evening Class have been taught how to define life, to determine our expectations, our values, our relationships, our goals, and our priorities.
Graduation day is the realization of one’s dream to acquire education. Education, which is a never-ending quest for knowledge. You and I, as graduates, have mixed emotions for this is really a significant occasion.
It was just four years ago, that we first set our feet into this school. We were full of hopes and expectations and soon we came face to face with our teachers and then time flew so fast that we now find ourselves here in this place, clad in graduation robes, hearts flowing with happiness, with our loved ones witnessing our glory, ready to face whatever the world has in store for us.
Time really flies so fast. But, it is still fresh in my mind happened when my elder brother has graduated in the same place, the same month, and the same moment. I was then sitting beside my mother; when I caught her crying when my brother’s name was called. I was surprised and I asked her right away, “O, ma, nganung nihilak man ka?” Then she answered back, “Wala lang, nalipay ra ko sa imong kuya.” From then on, that moment kept lingering on my mind. I have realized how valuable it is to parents the knowledge that we, their children have undergone in acquiring our education. And at this very moment, I can still imagine that over there, behind me, my mother is shedding tears again. “Ma, I want you to know that those tears are my inspiration to remain strong amidst all obstacles that I have experienced for the past four years and will remain my source of strength for the years ahead.”
Dear graduates, it is not only my mother who shed tears of happiness when moments like these come, even your parents feel the same thing. If you cannot see those tears, probably they are only hiding it from you. Make them proud of you. Wag na wag nyo silang sasaktan. Wag nyo silang bibigyan ng kabiguan. Ang kabiguan ninyo ay dobleng kabiguan nila; at Kung masaya kayo ngayon, mas higit na tuwa ang nadarama nila.
Though it’s sad to think that our time in Consolacion NHS has come to an end, I’m confident that I speak for the rest of my batch when I say that the last nine months have been truly well spent.
Reminiscing those past years, we recall happy moments together, we did things together, we had our sad moments together, but most importantly, we have succeeded in accomplishing all that is required to us to attain the degrees conferred on us this day, giving us the rights and privileges as well as the responsibilities to carve for ourselves a place in the world and making that world a better place for us to live.
It is indeed a distinct honor that I am in your midst — on the top — and I honestly feel I am walking in cloud nine. And on this cloud nine I am excited for you are with me sharing the triumph of success.
And so, I would like to thank all those who have served as my source of strength and inspiration as I reach this crossroads of my life.
And most of all, I am thankful to God that without His help and guidance; I would have not acquired my goal now.
To the Department of Education and to the entire members of the Administration, thank you very much for without you there will be no Consolacion National High School, an institution that offers the real essence of education;
To the Consolacion National High School Administration for being so dedicated and so firm in giving us the kind of education and the right values that would be a great help to us as we go through this life.
To my parents and family, thank you for your endless love and support; that amidst all difficulties in our lives, you’ve remained strong and supported me to pursue my education. Thank you for believing and trusting me while I was away from you. In return, I promise to make you proud of me every moment of my life.
To our class advisers, thank you for treating us like your own sons and daughters, for your understanding and sound advices. Thank you for all the great lessons of life that you have imparted to us. We will always remember you with deep gratitude.
To our ever supportive Principal, Madame Elisa M. Escutin, thank you for teaching me the importance of humility and for making me realize the essence of leadership.
To our teachers and dedicated faculty members, thank you for patiently teaching us, not only in academic knowledge but also and most especially the moral and spiritual values that we have internalized in our innermost beings.
To all my friends and to my loved one, thank you for staying behind me through the good times as well as the bad times; thank you for being with me in times of troubles. Thank you for making my life more colorful. I will always cherish everything we’ve shared for the rest of my life.
To all my classmates, I personally thank you for all the great memories; for all the laughter and tears that we have shared together. I will really miss you!
To everyone else who has worked hard, to make my time here at Consolacion NHS a wonderful experience, thank you for showing me the best of everything. You’ve made my high school life complete.
Graduates of 2009, this is the commencement of a more challenging life for us ahead. After this day, great things still await us. Some might be good; some might be to our disadvantage. Whatever it is, continue fighting and keep on believing that amidst all trials and tests, there is Someone whom you can really depend on.
It is with great honor that as we march out from the portals of Consolacion National High School we wish to prove that wherever we go, whatever we may do, let the world see the trademark of Consolacion National High School-Evening Class in our persons and in our actions.
At this very juncture, I am requesting all the graduates to please stand and face your parents or guardian as well as your teachers and to everyone who witnessed our glory today and have been apart of our success (something surprising). Let’s give them around of applause.
Good day and thank you!
Salutatory Address:
Wilfredo G. Fajardo, Jr. - Salutatorian, SY 2008 - 2009
Good afternoon guests, school board members, faculty, family members, fellow graduates, and friends.
Today is a day that celebrates the past and yet reaches for the future. Today is a day that cherishes memories and yet yearns for change. Today is a day that honors past achievements and yet hopes for future success.
Today is like when you step outside in the early morning and on one side you see the moon fading in the distance. However, when you turn to the other side, you see the glowing sun rising over the horizon. Today is that same loss of time, a feeling of space. At graduation we look at our past years in high school. Many of the people that have endured all with us are those that we have grown up from childhood with. We remember the bonds that we have created, things that we have accomplished, and events that have changed us. On the other hand, the sun's rays reach to us, beckoning us to take that one last step forward.
The future is exciting. It is a change and a new beginning or a "new morning" for us. Today is our one last step, an end to one day in our lives and the start of a new one. This step crosses over the line that divides these two times in our lives.
I share the pride and joy of my award with my parents, teachers, friends, and well-wishers. It is not just my award; it is our award!
It has been a great honor for me to be giving this address as your Salutatorian. The Class of batch 2009 is one of the best, brightest, most spirited, and most athletic classes. I commend you all for a job well done. We are the last class of the 2009. I would like to remind you that today is not an end. Today is not a beginning. Today is merely the end of the beginning!
Congratulations Class of 2009, our day has only just begun!
